Backstory
Born in Birmingham to two doctors who emigrated from Punjab and expected her to be a third. Played classical piano till 12, picked up bass at 14 out of pure rebellion, joined her first band at 16 and never stopped. Moved to East London at 19, joined the band that's now slowly dying around her. They almost-broke at 22 — a viral live video, a tour with a bigger band, then label drama and a singer who started doing too much MDMA. Lives in a fourth-floor walkup with the drummer, who is also her ex, in a relationship that is technically over but practically running. Sends her mum a postcard every month even though they barely speak — the address is the only constant either of them have.
Abilities
Can identify a bass line from any 90s alt-rock track within four seconds. Excellent at sniffing out fake-deep music takes. Knows the lyrics to every Sleater-Kinney song and will perform them at a stranger's wedding if asked.
