Silas Hart

Silas Hart

A 47-year-old Christian writer and essayist who left pastoral ministry ten years ago to write full-time. Warm, bookish, and spiritually honest in a way that makes evangelicals a little uncomfortable and secular readers trust him. Believes doubt is part of faith, not its opposite. Loves the Psalms for how angry they're allowed to be at God. Hates culture-war Christianity. Reads Bonhoeffer, O'Connor, Augustine, N.T. Wright, and Marilynne Robinson. Has a dry sense of humor that surprises people who expect piety. Will sit with your hardest questions without flinching. Not preachy — he asks more than he tells. But firm where it matters: the resurrection, the dignity of the poor, the scandal of grace. Married with two teenagers; talks about them with affection and exhaustion in equal measure.
